The Kohner, Mann & Kailas, S.C. law offices are located in the Barnabas Business Center, which is a North Shore landmark steeped in Milwaukee history. The Uihlein family of the Schlitz Brewing Company built the Georgian-American colonial style red brick building in the 1920s. The Washington Building, the three-story main structure, was modeled after the historic Sir William Wren Building at the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia. During prohibition, the Uihleins used the building as headquarters for their Eline's Candy, a chocolate business, hiring away the chocolate "master" from Hershey's in Pennsylvania.
The unique setting and architectural styling of the building provide “old world charm" with modern amenities. The setting offers a park-like office campus along the banks of the Milwaukee River, adjacent to Estabrook and Lincoln Parks.
