William “Bill” Fischer focuses his practice on business and corporate litigation and alternative dispute resolution, and particularly the preparation of legal submissions in complex litigation and appellate proceedings. Bill’s recent practice has included securities arbitration, litigation involving Wisconsin sales and use tax, insurance bad faith, intellectual property infringement and unfair competition, and Wisconsin Fair Dealership issues.

Bill has been active in a variety of complex national and transnational litigation, arbitration proceedings and settlement negotiations, including:

  • An integral role in a litigation team that established the existence of a contract based upon a body of oral and unsigned material resulting in a $3.7 million jury verdict in 2005 in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Wisconsin. The third largest verdict issued that year according to the Wisconsin Law Journal.
  • Part of a KMKSC team that made ground-breaking new law enlarging protection afforded business insureds from their insurers relating to ethical conduct owed to the insured.
  • Involvement in several multimillion dollar recoveries in business litigation.
  • Active participation in successful complex multinational action involving ITC administrative litigation and international commercial arbitration under the auspices of the ICC, relating to unfair competition.
  • Successful representation of investors claiming damages in securities violations by a major financial institution in a NASD arbitration.
  • Participation in continuing major class action alleging price manipulation in the natural gas industry.
